Learning To Use Solunar Tables

A good friend of mine Derek Almon has been my hunting and fishing buddy for many years. It started with Derek being a martial arts student of my dad's and evolved into a lasting friendship for me as well. Derek is a wealth of knowledge and a great guy to learn from.

One of those lesson he taught me was the importance of solunar tables. At first I was skeptical but began to be amazed how often he was correct on when we would start seeing animals moving about. I can remember the days we spent getting up way before light. Grabbing a snack and coffee on our way out to the woods where we would freeze and pray.... beg God for just one deer.

Well, now we use solunar tables to predict the best times to go hunt where we will see deer. So many times we would go out to our stand and wait until 10:30 in the morning and head for the truck. Only to hear the stories of the 'die-hards' who spend all day in a stand sipping dew and munching on nothing more than beef jerky or bark to stave off hunger. We would hear the stories of the monster buck shot on a neighboring property no more than thirty minutes to an hour after we left.

More than likely we spooked a deer right into the 'die-hards' path.

Now with this new tidbit of information, we know when it is best to arrive and how long we should stay in our stands for optimum hunting of the white tail deer.
